Description

The Boeing AH-64 Apache Longbow is a multi-mission four-blade, twin-engine attack helicopter with a tandem cockpit for a two-man crew. It features a nose-mounted sensor suite for target acquisition and night vision systems.

The AN/APG-78 Longbow Fire Control Radar and its weapons counterpart, the radar-guided, "fire and forget" Longbow Hellfire missile, enable the helicopter to detect, classify and prioritize ground targets day or night, even in poor weather and/or obscured conditions; then attack those targets with pinpoint accuracy from a long distance.

One of it's most notable features is its helmet mounted display, the Integrated Helmet and Display Sighting System (IHADSS), with it either the pilot or gunner can slave the helicopter's 30 mm automatic M230 gun to their helmet, making the gun track head movements to aim where they look.

It's armament in the mod consists of a 30mm M230 Chain Gun under the crew compartment, four pylons stations on stub wings for a variety of air-to-ground missiles and rockets, and two wing-tip stations for air-to-air defensive armament.

Burst Limiter

Burst limiter prevents overheating (not simulated within RHS yet) and limits amount of bullet that can be fired in single burst. If burst limiter is set at 10 rounds, you will be able to fire maximal 10 rounds when holding fire button continuously. However, it's still possible to make shorter bursts.

Each ten rounds increase cooldown time between bursts, so i.e. after 10 round barrage you will have to wait 1 second for next shot. Analogically 50 rounds are equal to 5 seconds of cooldown.

Hellfire

Radar Guided

Only radar guided missile is AGM-114L and it's able to employ following fire modes:

  • Lock Before Launch (LOBL) - Use vanilla top down attack. Missile will attempts to climb 560 meters at maximal 40 degree arc and will start dropping down to target at ~1000 meters. Below that range missile fire in direct mode.
  • Lock After Launch - Direct Mode (LOAL-DIR) - Missile will fly straight for approximately 1000 meters and then it will try to find valid radar target.

Laser Guided

Aditionaly, laser guided variants (AGM-114K,M,N) are capable of firing in following modes:

  • Lock After Launch - Low Mode (LOAL-LO) - Missile fly in target direction & attempt to reach altitude of 300 meters before trying to lock on laser target.
  • Lock After Launch - High Mode (LOAL-HI) - Missile fly in target direction & attempt to reach altitude of 1200 meters before trying to lock on laser target.

Missile lock cone is 40 degrees. Minimal distance to target is 1km. Below, or close to that range, lock on laser target is highly unlike.
