Description

The M1078A1P2 Light Medium Tactical Vehicle (LMTV) is the 4x4 2.5-ton version of the FMTV family.

The LMTV series of light trucks was introduced in the early 1990s, originally manufactured by Stewart and Stevenson. However, BAE Land Systems, and Oshkosh have manufactured new iterations of this vehicle, with the A1P2 variant being built by Oshkosh.

The main advantage of the A1P2 variant built by Oshkosh is the modular armored system. As part of the US Army's Long Term Armor Strategy (LTAS), there are two armor profiles for the LMTV and MTV. The A1P2 variant comes un-armored. The A1P2-B or B Kit version has modular add on armor paneling providing ballistic protection from most small arms.

The LMTV has several roles, including a flack deck cargo, troop transport, and CP Shelter carrier.

The LMTV A1P2 also incorporates a turret ring mount, and is capable of mounting the Objective Gunner Protection Kit (OGPK) for additional security in asymmetric threat or other high threat environments.
